Oosterluys: a wall print in a vaulted cellar

A bottle illustration printed directly onto rough, white-painted brick, with no film and no seams.

Client
Oosterluys, wine estate
Size
1.22 x 1.40 m (1.7 m²)
Surface
Rough, white-painted brick
Technique
UV print directly on the wall

The brief

In the vaulted cellar at Oosterluys, one niche was to carry the brand: a bottle of Charming Bubbles being poured, with the logo above it. Wallpaper or film was ruled out, because the wall is rough brick with deep joints and that texture had to stay visible.

The approach

The design came from the client's own graphic designer. We supplied template files with the exact dimensions of the niche and the required margin, so the artwork was made to size from the start. The client had the red brick of the niche painted white beforehand; we then printed on site, directly onto the painted brick.

The result

The ink follows every brick and every joint. Up close you see the relief of the brick through the print; from a distance it reads as a single image that belongs to the wall. Fine details such as the label on the bottle stay sharp and legible.
