Durability
How long does a wall print last? Durability explained
An honest explanation of wall print lifespan, the factors that influence it and how to protect it optimally.

The lifespan of a wall print is one of the most asked questions before we start a project. Short answer: 10 years or more indoors, around 5 years outdoors. The long answer deserves an article, because the numbers shift depending on ink, substrate, light and use.
The role of UV-cured ink
UV-cured inks are designed to stay colourfast under light. Unlike solvent inks that slowly fade, UV inks retain their pigment intensity for years. The UV lamp that cures the ink immediately after printing creates a polymer layer resistant to UV light, water and mild cleaners.
Indoor versus outdoor
Indoors we count on 10 years or more without visible fading. Outdoors that drops to around 5 years because direct sun and weather accelerate the pace. For outdoor projects we use an extra UV-resistant protective coating.
Direct sunlight is the largest: a south-facing wall ages faster than a shaded wall.
Which factors accelerate ageing?
Three elements determine pace. Direct sunlight is the largest: a south-facing wall ages faster than a shaded wall. Moisture and condensation act on porous surfaces. Frequent cleaning with aggressive agents can affect ink. For most interiors these factors are minimal.
Protection against scratches and touch
In high-traffic spaces like shops, hallways or children's rooms we recommend a protective varnish layer. This adds no colour but raises wear resistance considerably. Standard for museums and high-end retail.
Comparison with other wall finishes
Wallpaper lasts 5 to 7 years before visual degradation. Paint 3 to 5 years before touch-up in busy spaces. A wall print stays beautiful longer and needs no annual maintenance. Per year it is the most economical option.
What if I want to change it sooner?
A wall print does not demand patience. Want to change earlier? The wall is simply painted over with standard wall paint. A primer plus a topcoat and you start fresh. No scraping, no glue residue.
In closing
A wall print is one of the most durable wall finishes on the market. With the right ink, preparation and optional protective coating you can count on a result that lasts a decade without maintenance.
